In order to meet the growing global demand for well-educated, skilled and trained staff for the port industry, STC International provides education, training and skills development for maritime & offshore, port & terminals and transport & logistics industries worldwide. Our expert Thuy Nguyen, Chief representative, joined STC four years ago and is based in Hanoi, Vietnam. What she loves about her job and how she contributes to STC’s education program? Thuy shares her story.
Training for the ‘real deal’
“Seeing the growth and development of students, not only in terms of knowledge but also personally, is what I enjoy the most about my job”, said Thuy. Even though Thuy is not in front of the class, her work is incredibly important for the courses STC offers. STC Vietnam focuses mainly on programming activities, visual database development and scenario development for simulators. Simulations play an essential role in STC’s (practical) education and prepare trainees for the ‘real deal’.

Cross-border technique
“We design animations and simulator experiences for our branch offices in the Netherlands, South Africa and Oman. And of course for our training facilities in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam”, Thuy continues. The Maritime Education and Human Resource Centre (UT-STC) is a joint venture between the University of Transport (UT) and STC International in Rotterdam. This training center is well equipped with an engine room simulator and a bridge simulator for the training of nautical students and Vietnamese seafarers. “I am very grateful to be able to contribute to STC’s projects together with my team”.
